The Chama NM Loop is located in Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado.  Starting in Chama, this ride heads South through the valley and farmlands to Tierra Amarilla before turning West onto Highway 64. From there it is a short ride across the valley floor before the road starts a long climb up the hills to cross the top at the Brazos Summit.

From the Brazos Summit it is a gentle curving ride down the other side to the town of Tres Piedras where the route turns back North.  From Tres Piedras, the route makes a quick dash across the desert to the town of Antonito where there is gas and other amenities.

After Antonito, the route follows the Conejos River up a long valley before eventually crossing the river to begin the winding climb up and over the next pass.  This section of the ride includes several switchbacks and tight curves during the climb to La Manga Pass.

Once the pass has been crossed, the road slowly descends as it follows the rolling hills along the crest.  At the Cumbres Pass RR Station the path drops more quickly and has more curves on its way to the valley floor below.  Crossing back into New Mexico, it is a short ride back to the starting point in Chama.
