The Delta Grand Mesa Loop is located in Western Colorado.  It starts in Delta, Colorado and travels northeast through towns and farmlands until it eventually starts climbing up the mountains.  The climb and the curves are gentle and flowing as the road gradually gains altitude.

Near the summit is the Grand Mesa Visitor Center where riders can stretch their legs and take in the views.  Past the visitors center, the road continues climbing and eventually reaches the top of a mesa where there are some hiking trailheads.  After crossing the mesa, the road starts the descent down the other side.  The views are amazing, but keep one eye on the road because there are several switchbacks and hairpins to negotiate before reaching the valley floor and the town of Mesa.

Just past Mesa, the route turns left on the Grand Mesa Scenic Byway and follows Plateau Creek through the twisty canyon.  Eventually the Plateau Creek empties into the Colorado River and this route turns North onto Interstate 70.  Interstate 70 is sandwiched between the Colorado River and the mesas so even though it is part of the Interstate Highway System, this stretch is very curvy and even includes a short tunnel.

The canyon eventually transitions to flat lands and the road straightens out a bit.  At Debeque, this route leaves I-70 onto 45 ½ Road for the trip back to Mesa, CO.  The trip to Mesa starts with a short ride across the flat farmlands, but eventually it snakes its way up into the hills for another bit of twisty fun before dropping back down into town.

From Mesa, this route traces the same route past the Grand Mesa Visitor Center back to that starting point in Delta.  Motorcycle Rides, Colorado, Delta, Cory, Cedaredge, Mesa, De Beque, Palisade, Grand Junction
