The Red Wing Fairbault Route is really a tale of two geographies. One part of this route is located in and around the bluffs along the Mississippi River, between Lake City and Hastings, Minnesota. The other section of this route explores the uplands and lakes between Cannon Falls and Fairbault. The northern section, along the Mississippi, provides many opportunities to enjoy river views. Enjoy Spring Lake Park in Hastings, Red Wing Overlook, and Frontenac State Park. The inland section, on the other hand, takes you past some of the 10,000 lakes that Minnesota is famous for. The Red Wing Fairbault route is our northernmost route in Minnesota. This route, along with the St. Croix Route, are the nearest routes to the Twin Cities and northwest Minnesota. Either route would make a great first trip for riders who are new to the Driftless area.
